Missing my boys

Yesterday, Jeff and the boys left to go skiing. I have never been without at least one kid with me overnight. Tanner stayed with me while Sawyer started ski school when he was 6. We would spend a couple of days bonding, going to bookstores, getting ice creams, farmer's market etc now those days are gone as both boys discover winter sports. Its a sad time for me and also a proud one. Tanner went ice skating last month and loved it. So now skiing would be a breeze. I couldnt go due to the amount of work, the volume of work we have been getting lately is astounding. As my good friend Juliana (she called me at work yesterday! all the way from Toronto)  reminded me about a term we learned in college, she said i am a corporate captive. She even said it was Ms. Iturralde who taught us that, what memory! Ironic, the smart ones tend to not have to work for a living while the ones that barely made it through school needed their little brain to squeeze out a livelihood. Oh, i digress...anyway, its odd, the quiet house, the lack of chaos, i dont have to clear the table several times a day....oh chaos, come back to me. Come back my Sawyer and make me as many origami as you want, come back Tanner and let mommy play dominoes with you, you will win this time, i promise you...

We spent our New Year's Eve at Ate Mila's house, an old family friend. Last time we went was when Sawyer was a toddler. We had so much fun, it was great seeing everyone. The kids played white elephant, there was a money toss which Tanner said was his favorite. And Sawyer's favorite was the left right center game. Everyone starts with 3 doallrs, you roll 3 dice and the dice  will tell you where to put the money (to your left to your right or center which means the pot. )
