Tannerism

After looking at a rental that came with a pool: Tanner, how do you like to have a pool?
Tanner: You have to drain it! Its too high for me!!

Me: Tanner, your new teacher is so lucky to have you in her class.
Tanner: No she not, i stepted on her foot today.

Tannerism

On the way to see Go-e who lives in South San Francisco, while on the bridge Tanner asked where were we, we said San Francisco, when we got closer to Go-e, he asked if this is San Francisco(our fault since we tell him she lives in SF) i said no, its called South San Francisco, he said "Oh Go-e lives in Fake Francisco!"

I asked him to help me get out of my chair, he did and i asked him will he take care of his ma when she gets old, he said "No, Sawyer will" When he saw the look on my face, he explained " I will be pushing daddy in his wheel chair"(turns out they had a an earlier conversation with his dad about old people and wheel chair).

First day of school: How was school Tanner? " YOU NEED TO PUT MORE FOOD IN MY LUNCH!"

First day of school

I dropped Sawyer off daycare this morning. His first day under the new school and he will be in 3rd grade. I am so proud of him. His score came last week from his Star testing, this is our first time to see one since the private school did not do it. He scored above average on all. Jeff and i agreed not to tell him. He might slack off.
On the way to daycare (not a very long drive) a gave him a short lecture about making a good first impression, looking people in the eye when they speak to you and being polite at all times.
Our neighbor lady Ms. Victoria offered to walk him to the bus since she is taking her son there on his first day, but i said no thank you since i want to make sure all his paperwork is in order, and good thing i did that since there was some time stuff that was not in order, like the daycare care lady Susana is not sure how she would walk him to the school bus if she is the only there in the morning. She said she thinks Sawyer is the only one there that goes to the bus stop in the morning, in the pm care, there would be a few more student from the bus. So i let him know that i can certainly switch my schedule that way Sawyer only goes to the pm one. She said not to worry, they will find a way to work around this. I am worried since i dont want Sawyer to stick out like sore thumb bec he will be if the rest of the kid have to vacate the daycare and walk with him till the bus came. I passed by the bus waiting area, and a bunch of student with their parents are already there. Hmmm, i was planning on dropping Sawyer off, clocking in, working briefly and going back to see him off at the bus station, but i can see that there is no parking nearby with all the parents doing this on the first day so i will do it on another day. i am excited for him to ride on the bus since i know he loves school buses. He had a restless night last night though. i am sure he is worried but trying very hard to be brave. I love my boys.
As for Tanner, his first day of kindergarten was last Thursday. But it was nothing special for him since he is going to the same school/daycare and since he was there full time during summer all the faces are familiar. He still proclaimed that he does not like school though. He gets to play in the big kids area now, not sure how he would feel about that since his favorite thing was riding the bikes and now they are off limites to him.

In The Spirit of Our Campaign for One Fun Summer...

Jeff and I took the boys to the K Street Mall with a plan to walk to Old Town. First we had a snow cone (pictures will be posted later, my computer is broken and my nice brother in law will be working on it). Tanner wanted a chocolate snow cone, i told him it was not available in that flavor, when asked what other flavor, he said " I CANT READ" so the nice lady behind the counter asked him if he wants green, blue or pink, he picked blue which turned out to be bubblegum and after one bite, he decided he did not like it and wanted the shrimp chips i get inside the store instead. Weird, what kid does not like snow cone, my biggest kid (Jeff) ate it instead. One the way to the mall, which we have been to many times, Jeff suddenly couldnt find his bearings and we had to go arund several times until he got to the parking lot. Unbeknownst to us, that side is for office worker so when we got on the elevator, it wouldnt move, wouldnt open and wouldnt go up, immediately Tanner started to panic " I dont want to be stuck here forever, wah!" Big tears which surprised us both and i think Sawyer too and thats why he did not panic as much. We got out after more pressing of buttons, walked around, jeff decided we have to try the elvator again, poor Tanner started crying immedietely got out and finally we got our bearings and found our car and drove to the other side. Quite a few minutes adventure there. Tanner proclaimed while wiping his big tears with his sleeves: "I WILL NEVER RIDE A ELEVATOR EVER AGAIN" Life is good for the little guy because after that proclamation, he reminded us that we promised to take him to the train stattion and candy store. And we did. It was a fun day full of sugar (choco muffin, lemonade, push pops, taffy-which he did not like) and salt (pizza, corn dog).

Tannerism

While listening to his favorite song PennyLane with my headset before bedtime, he accidentally hit another song "I Want to Hold You Hand" , he turned to me in his funny loud little voice " THIS IS NOT PENNY LANE! ITS SOME SAD SONG ABOUT WANTING TO HOLD SOMEONE'S HAND.
Just a month ago, i found this Glee version of I Want To Hold Your Hand on Youtube and it was the saddest song ever, sang slowly it can be a sad song. So Tanner, you are right, it is a kinda sad song

Life

When i started this blog, my main motivation is my boys. I want them to be able to look back, and even if i am not around, with the help of my text, remember their happy little life. However, life took a hold of me a few months ago (May) and my computer broke. Its fixed now but my posting is not the same anymore. The old easy way of posting is gone, maybe the server changed it, maybe i had it set up differently, i dont know. Not being computer savvy and also due to the lack of time, my posting became sporadic and short. I do feel guilty, and i spent hours trying to figure it out, i am still struggling with it, some post were deleted accidentally (which never happened before) trying to figure this new way. Life is still good, i am still taking alot of pictures, i just need to step away from this for a little bit till things are calmer then i can figure this out with more patience.

Summer 2010

4th of July Block Party / Rainsong Cr.

Our neighbor Ms. Victoria (daycare lady and Tyler's mom) told us a few weeks ago that she is planning a block party. I thought it would be a street potluck with ice creams for the kids. Boy! was i wrong! We rush back home from Pine Crest so not to miss it and we were shocked at how huge everything was....the boys stayed out until midnight, well, Tanner dragged his feet in declaring how sleepy he is. What a great day for my boys!

1st Block Party / Rainsong Circle

When our neighbor told us she is organizing a block party, i thought it would be just a bunch of children running around with an ice cream cone, boy was i mistaken! I was looking forward to it though for my kids, thats why we came home earlier than planned from Twain Harte. There was a huge jumpy/water thingy, a dunking thingy and lots of food, cotton candy, alot of bbq done by Ms. Victoria and family. When it got dark, the kids played with fireworks, the other side of our street have a firework show that we were not even aware of until last year. Sawyer stayed out until midnight, Tanner was asleep and walked in leting us know he is very sleep around 11. What a great day! Nothing makes me happier than when my kids are having good clean fun.

This weekend Part 1

P1000020

This weekend started early. I took Friday off and went with Tanner to his field trip. Tanner likes the zoo but not for the animals. We have been here many times, first thing we do is drop some coins in this spiral well.

P1000021

P1000023

Walk around a bit and food. They always (Cap Christian School) tell you to be there by 8 or else you will be left. But we usually do not leave until almost nine. Once we get there there is more waiting before they let us in, then we have to meet each other and walk to the picnic table for lunch. I went with Sawyer to all his pre school and kindergarten field trips which is either to the zoo or to Fairy Tale town which is next door. Because of all the waiting you have to do, alot of time you are only really there for an hour.

P1000028

P1000031

Tanner’s favorite thing at the zoo, the yellow tractor.

This weekend

IMG_4581

Jeff drove the kids around this weekend to their endless baseball games on Saturday and on Sunday he took Tanner to a party while Sawyer and i stayed at home to rest. I have been feeling tired lately so it was a nice break from my usual running around. i think i am slowing down from here on.  It got cold again and Sunday it was foggy and rainy, love it. i dread the coming of summer. Summer is only fun if you are off. I stayed in the whole time, except for a quick trip to Costco. Bought a box of their tempura, a bit heavy on the batter so i wont buy this brand again.

IMG_4582

Made some brownies. Sawyer said the nuts makes it taste yummier. Tanner refused to try it because of the nuts. One day all of us will eat the same thing…someday.

I love days like these, just hanging it with my boys. Of course there were fights and crying between them throughout the day. At one point, they decided to have a sword fight with the water stick i got them, i told them a million times i dont like that bec it always ends up in tears. But i just let them be, they have to learn the reason  why i say “Because i said so” when i say no to something they want to do is because i know what will happen next. So they did well for five minutes, then Sawyer got hurt, then Tanner got hurt, alot of tears, while i ran upstairs to calm myself down.  Had a little talk with them about how rough playing like that is not worth it it seems because of the physical pain that always comes with it. Specially since the fun never seems to last for more than a few minutes. They both agree…for now.

IMG_4583 These boxes were heavy, it was filled with books, i was surprised to see them in the middle of the room so i asked Sawyer how did he do it, he said it ws Tanner, and it took him a  long time to push it there. Wish i caught him doing it. This is a forth they made. Well Tanner made. They were playing dogs then it became a storefront with them selling things to each other.

Tannerism: Jeff and i were spelling lots of words while talking in the car, Tanner was looking at us, back and forth, finally waning to be included, he said “ l o v e u. “ Its the only word he can spell for now aside from his name.

PS. Took friday off to attend Tanner’s western BBQ day. Forgot to bring my camera! It was a morning full of activities, jumpy houses, obstacle courses, games, puppet show, western cartoon, and gymnastic. It ends at noon where we go to their room and eat the potluck of hotdogs and cookies. Jeff came to surprise us and we went to a Chinese buffet since that was my plan with Tanner. Long weekends are always soooo nice. Time is so precious in my world.

Tanner and his balloon

IMG_4567

Tanner got this balloon yesterday, he was worried the open window would make his balloon fly away. His solution was to cuddle with it. Lucky balloon.

Weekend recap: Birthday party, baseball, library, Bridgehead Restaurant (Antioch)with Jeff's family for my birthday and Mother's Day, drvie around the delta, Locke, Courtland, Oto's Market, we all helped (even Tanner who gave Sawyer his black crayons)Sawyer with his school project, more on that later.

Locke, CA

IMG_4571

This is one of my favorite places here to visit. Locke is a town that is about 45 minutes away from us and it is the only existing Chinese built community in this country. When we moved to Sacramento a few years ago, i started reading up on the immigration of Chinese in this area and that lead me to this place.

IMG_4572

Today is rather unusual for this dusty little town, or maybe it is not, but there was alot of people there. I tour bus was there and a busload of well dressed older people were walking around. The parking lot was also full of cars. I heard one of the ladies said they are from Walnut Creek. Or did she say they were in Walnut Grove (the next town)??

I worry about this little town becoming too popular, i also worry about this town be shut down by the state due to their budget problem. I noticed how many of the little shops that were there closed own, at least two vintage shops were gone and a little convenience store, all gone.

The soil is so rich here that flowers were abundant.

Garden roses are a million times more beautiful than the store ones.

Doggie show party

IMG_4554

IMG_4547

IMG_4553

We woke up today all excited about Tanner’s classmate’s party. Its at a park, siblings are welcome and there is a doggie show! These dogs, or the trainer, are semi famous, they were on TV (America Got Talent, something like that)and about a year ago someone gave us a video they made so we are actually familiar with them, i would like to think. All the dogs are rescued dogs, unwanted by other people for whatever reason. The Jack Russell, she said, was given away due to his excessive energy.

IMG_4556

Why cant i just serve simply food like these? Hotdogs, drinks, chips and watermelon. And cupcakes. Everyone had fun and food eaten outside taste better no matter what you serve.

IMG_4560

Total chaos during gift opening. Finally the kids were told to sit down and hold onto their presents since everyone wants theirs to be open next. Tanner hold on to his can of soda the entire time. Its a special threat and he took advantage of it and drank a can and a half.

IMG_4561

I ma kinda proud of our gift, its a learning Dora globe that i got from Costco a couple of years ago. It was such a good buy that i bought a bunch, pretty much everyone got one that Christmas! This is the last one to go.

IMG_4563

After the party, Sawyer and daddy went to play baseball and Tanner and mommy went to the library. Tanner was a big help.

IMG_4565

Tanner is now comfortable at the place and would go to the children’s section by himself.
